WHERE WE WORK
AWET has presence in all the districts in Zimbabwe in case of Emergency response. However, AWET has been programming in Manicaland and Midlands provinces since 2016.

SCALING AWET'S WORK
The Apostolic movement comprises hundreds of Apostolic members, and has an estimated population of +6million members which is 38% of the Zimbabwean population. The majority of the Apostolics live in the rural areas and are estimated to be 73% of the +6 million. The Apostolic women make up 64% of the +6million with the majority of women aged between 20 and 29 years, being the marrying and childbearing age.

Direct Implementation
AWET is expanding its direct work across Zimbabwe. We have recently developed and tested several adaptations to their successful SBC model, with programs targeting youth, young girls, women, and communities affected by climate change.

Government Adoption
The SBC model began in Harare, and AWET is now working with the Government of Zimbabwe and other partners to achieve government adoption of our model. For the model to be truly sustainable, it must be incorporated into government social safety nets.

Strategic Partnerships
AWET is proud to work with world-class organizations including UNICEF, Anglo American, CARE, UNESCO, Ministry of Health and Child Welfare and more in an effort to tackle the social-cultural barriers confronting Apostolic women in communities.
“We have been using the Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) model within Apostolic religious communities to create a mindset shift with regards to accessing modern health services.”
